I recently saw a quote posted on an Instagram story which really struck me.
It was a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt and I thought it was a lovely statement.
So I took a note of it and thought I would practice my Calligraphy whilst writing it.
I’m really pleased with how this has turned out.
Now I must confess I’ve been trying to write this quote for days. I’ve made spelling mistakes, I’ve not quite been in zone and I’ve wasted quite a bit of my ‘good’ paper. But I think my attempt today has come out really well.
It has also highlighted areas I need to work on further such as my spacing between letters and letter consistentancy.
For example, the word ‘taste’. The S and the T are too far apart in relation to other letters. But it’s all good practice and I now know what to work on next.
For this piece I used my pointed pen with a Brause no.361 nib. The black ink is Calligraphy ink from Herbin and the paper is cream coloured cartridge paper, 90gsm.
Are you practicing Calligraphy? And are there quotes you find useful for practicing? I’d love to know in the comments if you can recommend a good practicing quote.
Thank you for reading and Happy Crafting!
