I’ve been trying to practice a little bit of Calligraphy every day, even if it’s only a few letters.
I’ve even tried to do a little bit during the day, incorporating some of the flourishes when I’m writing notes at work 😂
It doesn’t usually work out as a Biro isn’t the same as holding a pointed pen, but its practice none the less (that’s what I’m telling myself anyway)
I sat down for another practice today, starting from A as usual (one day I’ll get past O in my guide book 😁) and decided to practice some writing too.
I’m following a book called ‘Nib and Ink. The art of modern calligraphy’ by Chiara Perano. I find it really helpful to slowly but surely create my letters.
In between the practice pages of each letter there are little phrases to motive, such as ‘practice makes perfect’.
I write this phrase a lot but thought I’d do another one this morning, which then led to a few phrases…….
The one thing I’ve found with Calligraphy is that you have to keep practicing. Not all the time as it’s meant to be enjoyable, but to keep reminding yourself of the different ways the letters can flow.
Christmas and Wedding Calligraphy next I think…….
I’m hoping to start making a selection of wedding invitations for my portfolio, future posts to come I’m sure 🙂
I’ve been practicing those too
Thank you for reading and happy crafting!
